RESEARCH INTERESTS
Fundamental theory and applications in complex systems research, emphasizing robustness tradeoffs, high variability, and optimization in biological networks, including the immune system, and the brain. Dynamics and power laws in the context of natural and technological disasters, both from the perspective of modeling dynamic cascading failure phenomena and statistically evaluating hazards.
