Biotechnology Tools

The objective of the ICB Biotechnology Tools task order is to develop new techniques, materials, processes, and ways of thinking that accelerate the development and characterization of complex molecular and cellular systems.

The core areas of focus include 1) synthesis and screening of molecular diversity; 2) understanding complex microbial systems; 3) synthesis of multifunctional biomaterials; and 4) development of advanced molecular and cellular characterization technologies. Our efforts in each focus area are directed toward basic research, related either to the development of the tool itself or to fundamental scientific and engineering questions that can be explored most effectively through use of these advanced tools.  Strong collaborative connections link the Biotechnology Tools task order to many of the other task orders within the ICB.
