Towards Understanding the Role of AQP4 in Glymphatic Function

The overarching goal of this project is to establish a platform for investigating the causal role of aquaporin 4 (AQP4) in the glymphatic system, by developing a technique to quantitatively and dynamically manipulate AQP4 mediated transmembrane water exchange.

The major objectives of the project are: (1) Using small molecule responsive degradation sequences (degrons), develop a technique that enables dynamic and tunable manipulation of AQP4 mediated water exchange. (2) Implement and validate the technique in vivo with the ultimate goal of studying how the glymphatic pathway responds to quantitative perturbations in AQP4 function.
