ICB Co-Director Frank Doyle Wins TechConnect Innovation Award

TechConnect announced ICB director Frank Doyle as a winner of the annual TechConnect Innovation Award for his research on Diabetes control algorithms and clinical trial software.

Doyle and the UCSB Office of Technology & Industry Alliances won the award for their prototype of a collection of innovative Artificial Pancreas technologies that includes control algorithms designed to detect meals, prevent the occurrence of overnight hypoglycemia, and provide alarms when glucose levels move outside normal parameters, as well as software for use in clinical trial testing of continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump devices.

The TechConnect Innovation Awards identify the top 20% of submitted technologies as ranked by the TechConnect Corporate & Investment Partner Committee. Innovation rankings are based on the potential positive impact the submitted technology will have on a specific industry sector. Innovations are submitted from global academic technology transfer offices, early-stage companies, small business innovative research (SBIR) awardees, and government and corporate research laboratories.
