This work utilizes a low cost, non-invasive microfluidic technique known as three dimensional insulator based dielectrophoresis to sort bacteria based on their electrical properties. This technique is employed to select bacterial strains with a high affinity for fuel and electricity production with the ultimate goal of enabling sustainable military outposts.
