Research Interests

Our lab is interested in developing DNA and RNA based materials with revolutionary properties for applications including quantum sensing and computing, light-harvesting, carbon sequestration, molecular memory, and therapeutic delivery. DNA is highly programmable structurally due to its robust Watson-Crick base-pairing rules, and its synthetic nature. In contrast, RNA is active catalytically and interfaces naturally with a range of RNA-binding proteins, as well as DNA. Together, they form versatile hybrid nanoscale materials with the ability to rationally design a range of 2D and 3D structured materials with unusual properties that we are investigating using imaging, computation, spectroscopy, and cell-based assays.
